Christian Ammann, born in Karlsruhe in 1977 and raised in the regions Allgäu and Baden, had his first contact with the electric bass at the age of 15. A friend of his, today a famous singer herself, took him to Munich to see a show of Tower of Power. Standing in the first row directly in front of Rocco Prestia this marked the initial incident for his musical career. The following years he took lessons, began to write songs, played in various bands, recorded CD´s and played concerts. In 1998 he passed the entrance examination for the "Staatliche Hochschule
für Musik und darst. Kunst Mannheim" and studied Jazz/Popular
Music with main subject Electric Bass with Patrick Scales, Norbert Dömling
and Dave King and also doublebass with Thomas Stabenow. These studies
he completed with diploma in 2002. Over the last years Christian Ammann became a reknown bassplayer for all kinds of musical styles. He played concerts and toured in Europe, Turkey, Russia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, the USA and the United Arabian Emirates. His own ideas and compositions Christian Ammann translates into action
with his quintett "TILLSAMMANS". Its music is a mixture of Modern
Jazz and up-to-date Grooves, which one can hear on the just recently published
CD "Wildlife". Apart from these bands he was member of e.g. Youth Jazz Orchestra Baden-Württemberg, Hector Rene Colon´s Caribbean Breeze and Tournesol, played on the cruise ships "AIDA" and "Arosa blu" with the Constanze Jung Band and worked with musicians like Adam Nussbaum, Peter Herbolzheimer, Ack van Rooyen, Peter Weniger, Jiggs Whigham, Ramon Stagnaro, Johannes Faber, Jörg Reiter, Sebastian Studnitzky, Joe Gallardo, Peter Lehel, Bro´Sis, Cecile Verny or Helena Paul. Since 1999 he is furthermore teacher for Electric Bass, Jazz- and Rockensemble at the Municipal School of Music Bühl/Baden and holds workshops regularly. For more info: www.christianammann.de
